Five Deer Grazing on the Hillside

Sunshine in February

The days are getting longer!

Inspiration comes in many forms. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of sun to bring back the colour in a world that has seemed so nearly monochrome all month.

The thaw has already started. New shoots of green grass, moss and other tiny plants are sprouting everywhere.

There are the precious signs of fragile life in a tiny soft barred feather, or delicate tissue paper of a torn insect nest from the last summer season.

On a different day I might have walked right by these things in the forest, or past the camouflaged deer quietly grazing on their way up the slope across the street. I might have missed all of these, if not walking softly, watching, listening and caring to see.
