Fifth Window Series #2
RED-TAILED HAWK – 2021
There is a large spruce tree on my brother’s property in Lake Country, B.C., where the raptors take turns claiming the top branches to look over the valley. Hawks of different sizes, and also the eagles, like to grab both top branches to pull them together so they can have the very best view.
This is the second painting in a series called “The Fifth Window” where I combine realism and abstraction, visible and invisible. I was interested in the intense focus and energy of the predator, completely absorbed in the moment, fine-tuned for survival.
