Recent work in the studio includes this series entitled “Lifelines.”
Small works in this series are painted with oils on natural kiln-dried wood surfaces, inspired by the wood grain. Some larger pieces are also on live-edge reclaimed wood and on cradled fir panels.
This series includes portraits of wild survivors at the edge of the forest, especially small birds, insects and local Okanagan wildlife met near the studio.
After preparing the wood, layers of artists’ translucent oil paint glazes are built up slowly over time. There are always lots of unfinished projects around, but then sometimes they all come together at almost the same time!
Related projects with precious metal accents are also in the works. Stay tuned for updates!
